RISBAT in the battery ecosystem: knowledge exchange and regulatory expertise

RISBAT aims to contribute to more sustainable and circular approaches to battery management in the context of an evolving European regulatory landscape. The expertise brought by the project partners, including in areas related to EV battery waste management and Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, plays an important role in supporting this work.

This expertise is also reflected in engagement activities with battery-sector stakeholders in the participating countries. During the project, the RISBAT coordinator, Re-Battery, has organised three workshops addressing key topics related to EV batteries, waste management and the European battery regulatory framework.

Building a Battery Waste Collection Network

Online | September 2025 | 38 participants

The workshop focused on discussions around the development of a waste battery collection network.

EV Battery Waste Management Protocol and Regulation (EU) 2023/1542

Elefsina | December 2025 | 32 participants

The workshop focused on the conclusions from the implementation of the EV Battery Waste Management Protocol during 2022–2024 and the alignment of Re-Battery operations with Regulation (EU) 2023/1542.

EV Batteries & Regulation (EU) 2023/1542

Online | June 2026 | 46 participants

The workshop focused on developments concerning EV batteries and the requirements introduced by Regulation (EU) 2023/1542.

Activities such as these reflect the broader expertise that the RISBAT consortium brings to the project and its connection with developments taking place across the battery sector. They also provide opportunities to introduce RISBAT to relevant stakeholders and place its work within the wider discussions around EV battery management, circularity and the evolving European regulatory framework.
