RISBAT held its 3rd workshop, organised by SNRB, and hosted at the Romanian Senate – an important event bringing together policymakers, economic actors from the Romanian battery value chain, and the RISBAT partners.
On 9 June 2026, the RISBAT consortium had the privilege of being hosted at the Romanian Senate, in the Palace of Parliament, for the 3rd RISBAT Workshop and Matchmaking Event, organised by Asociația SNRB. The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for partners to present the project’s outcomes in a prestigious institutional setting and to engage directly with key decision‑makers and stakeholders across the Romanian battery value chain.
The event gathered representatives from national authorities and public institutions. We were honoured by the participation of Adrian Giugriu, President of the Committee for Environment and Ecological Balance of the Chamber of Deputies, Raul Pop, State Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests, and Marian Florea, President of the Romanian City Managers Association. Their contributions offered institutional perspectives and constructive feedback relevant for future actions and policy development in the field of battery management.
The workshop also brought together key economic operators active in battery collection, treatment and recycling in Romania, including Asian Vehicles Trading, DTM Waste Recycling, ImagPro Recycle, Concept Solution System, and REMAT SUD. These organisations shared their experiences, concerns and practical challenges related to the implementation of the new requirements introduced by Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, highlighting the need for clearer procedures, safer handling practices and stronger cooperation across the value chain.
During the event, the RISBAT consortium presented the battery management protocols developed within the project, the results on automated robotic disassembly of battery packs, and key insights on improving safety, traceability and circularity in battery end‑of‑life management.
The active participation and exchange of knowledge confirmed the importance of collaboration between industry, public authorities, research organisations and policymakers in building a more sustainable and efficient battery recycling ecosystem in Europe.
Visit to RematHolding battery treatment facility
On the following day, RISBAT partners visited RematHolding, a company active in the collection, sorting and treatment of waste batteries and accumulators in Romania. The visit provided an overview of the facility’s role in managing end-of-life batteries in accordance with national regulations. RematHolding collects and transports waste batteries and accumulators according to standard regulations, sorts them by category, and stores them safely before they undergo treatment and recycling with specialised equipment. This visit complemented the discussions held during the workshop and offering partners a practical perspective on one of the major Romanian battery treatment facilities.
