Re-Battery Presents RISBAT’s Innovative Solutions at the Thessaloniki International Fair

Serving as a key meeting point for businesses, policymakers and innovators, the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair offered an excellent opportunity to present RISBAT’s innovative battery pretreatment framework.

During the Re-Battery’s event held at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), Re-Battery presented the RISBAT project to economic operators and key stakeholders from the battery value chain, highlighting its innovative solutions for the safe, efficient and circular management of end-of-life lithium-ion batteries.

Participants were informed about RISBAT’s integrated approach to battery pre-treatment, which covers the entire process from collection and sorting to reuse evaluation and recycling. Particular emphasis was placed on the project’s work in the following areas:

  • Standardised procedures for the safe collection, packaging, transportation and handling of end-of-life batteries
  • Assisted identification of battery chemistry and digital sorting, targeting a sorting purity of more than 99%
  • State-of-health assessment, controlled discharge and evaluation of batteries for potential second-life applications
  • Semi-automated and robotic dismantling of complex battery packs, reducing hazardous manual operations
  • Improved traceability and harmonised procedures aligned with Regulation (EU) 2023/1542
  • Technology transfer, capacity building and the development of skills across the RIS regions

The event provided an important opportunity to engage directly with economic operators, exchange knowledge and raise awareness of the technical, operational and regulatory developments shaping the future of battery management in Europe. Through initiatives such as RISBAT, Re-Battery continues to support the transition towards a safer, more efficient and circular European battery ecosystem.
